Prior to 1954, Othello was without a Lutheran Church. When the Columbia Basin Project began, the Mission Committee of the American Lutheran Church made a study of the Basin and purchased the present property. On March 8, 1954, the Mission Committee called Rev. Delber Zier to serve as pastor and missionary in the area.
